M errimack Films was founded in 1983 to produce and distribute films and videos on labor relations. Its products are widely used by colleges in North America and abroad, as well as by businesses, labor unions, and government agencies.

Merrimack's films have been praised by academics, union officials, business managers, and film critics for their objectivity and sophistication.

Merrimack Films was started by Henry Bass, who still runs the company. He received a BA from Williams College and an MA in economics from Harvard University. Before becoming a film and video maker, he taught labor and marketing at Hunter College. His first film was Loose Bolts?, made in collaboration with Peter Schlaifer. Merrimack is located in Belmont, Massachusetts. When we started we distributed our productions on film and gradually shifted to video. All new titles will be brought out on DVD.
